The Makery is a shop to buy exciting jewellery, art, cards and prints – or to feel inspired to create your own. It’s a service to design logos, branding, leaflets, posters – whatever you need to support your own business or community projects. It’s a happy, inspiring hub to let your creativity shine.
Everything is designed and made on site in The Makery.
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak, we have had to make the difficult decision to close our shop on Dunbar High Street for the forseeable. We shall however be busy beavering away through the back, making wonderful new products for when it is safe to open up again.
Our online shop is still running and new items are being added every week.
Please check on the vulnerable and be excellent to each other x
What we do
The Makery is a joint venture between Source Design (artist, jewellery maker and graphic designer, Emma Westwater) and The Haddock Press (printmaker, Murray Calder) in a brand new creative space at 98 High Street, Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland.
The Makery unites the pair’s wide range of skill, talent and services in one vibrant space and offers you the chance to develop your own unique, personalised gifts and artwork as well as providing creative support to personal, business and community projects. On-the-spot lasercutting is also available.
As well as support and inspiration for your own projects, The Makery acts as a shopfront for the jewellery, home wares, and artwork designed by the two creatives. The Makery also provides a face to face graphic design service for businesses and individuals.
A small but mighty graphic design service for businesses in Dunbar and beyond. Co-founded by Emma Westwater, the agency has more than 17 years experience working with companies large and small. Source Design works in partnership with you to identify the key design elements you need to make your business stand out against your competition.
Excited by the colour, shape and texture combinations used in graphic design practice, Emma has translated this energy into her own designs using laser cutting techniques on wood, paper, card and acrylic. Emma’s products are bold, graphic and exciting and range from arts and prints to cards and jewellery. Custom jobs are always welcomed.
Founded in 2018 by printmaker Murray Calder, The Haddock Press combines historic type with modern printmaking techniques. Finding inspiration from his love of books, poetry, music and the local environment, Murray creates a range of typographic art prints. The Haddock Press celebrates the written word and welcomes print commissions.
